Our mission

HalfPriceHunt is a local marketplace for Bolingbrook, IL and the Chicago suburbs. We want good things to find new homes at honest prices: brand-new, open-box and gently used items, bought in person from real neighbors — no fees for buyers, free posting for sellers.

How it works

1. Browse the deals, or search by item and ZIP code.
2. Buy: tap Buy on an item, leave your name, cell phone and a pickup day. The seller calls you to confirm.
3. Make an offer on any item that accepts offers; the seller calls back with an answer.
4. Pick up and pay in person — cash or Zelle. Inspect first, pay after.

Selling tips

• Take 4–8 bright photos: the whole item, the label, any flaw.
• Say the condition plainly (New, Open box, Like new, Good, Fair) and what is included.
• Price at or below half of retail for a quick sale; mention the retail price so buyers see the saving.
• Answer calls — buyers move on fast.
• Keep your items in sections on your page (My account → Sections) so buyers can browse what you sell.

Safety & trust

• Meet in a public place or a busy doorstep, in daylight; bring a friend for big items.
• Inspect before you pay. Never pay in advance, never send deposits, never share codes or passwords.
• Cash or Zelle at pickup only. HalfPriceHunt never processes payments and never asks for your bank details.
• Sellers marked Verified seller are operated by HalfPriceHunt itself.

Community guidelines

• List only what you own and can hand over locally (or ship, if you say so).
• Real photos, real prices, real condition. No counterfeit, stolen, recalled or prohibited items; no weapons, animals or adult content.
• One listing per item. Mark it sold when it is gone.
• Be kind on the phone. Accounts that mislead buyers are removed.

Plans

Posting is free. New sellers get a free period of 7 days; after that a monthly plan with automatic posting to Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, Nextdoor and OfferUp will be offered. Prices will be published here before anything is charged.
